CRAVEseattle Book Launch

Ashley Jones owner Popcorn Pavilion-  CRAVE Book Launch Party from the CRAVEcompany on Vimeo.

I have the honor and privilege to know the fine ladies of CRAVE. Sunday night was the big launch of the 4th edition of their CRAVEseattle book. The swanky event took place at the new Dish it up! in Ballard, the night was so very inspiring and exciting. Never before had I thought about starting my own business, but after that night I left feeling as though the world was at my fingertips. It was incredible to talk with so many amazing and successful business women! I also had the chance to chat with some of CRAVE's Entreprenesses and pick their brains a little. I asked them questions like, "How would you describe your business in three words?" or "What advice would you give to other women who are starting their own business?", and "What is the most inspiring thing you've heard tonight?" It was fun getting to hear everyone's responses! I took note and walked away with what I feel was great advice. I think what stuck with me the most was that I should never give up!

A bow tie wearing fashionable man: Mario Lopez

I always enjoy spending time with my sister and best friend, Katia. This weekend I am quite excited because on Saturday 11/27 we'll be heading to the South Hill Mall to catch a glimpse of and hopefully rub shoulders with the one, the only Mario Lopez! He would definitely be categorized in my opinion as a fashionable man, he's good looking, in shape and he wears bow ties! I love it. Hopefully on Saturday I'll find out if he smells good, because as I've written in the past, every fashionable man should smell good too.
The event is open for anyone to come, so if you want to take a minute and drool over a good looking hunk you might want to consider stopping by!

Mario Lopez Celebrity Appearance - November 27, 1-3pm Mario Lopez from Extra and VH1's Saved by the Baby will be making a celebrity appearance at South Hill Mall on November 27th at Center Court from 1-3pm for photos and autographs. Lopez will be joined by his girlfriend, Courtney Laine Mazza. The event will be emceed by Miss Washington 2010, Jacquie Brown.

What are you thankful for?

I'm going to keep this simple and ask the same question that everyone seems to be asking this week, what are you thankful for?

I know that I am thankful for

My family
My dog
My friends
My lap top
Justin Bieber

There you have it, I hope everyone has a happy and wonderful Thanksgiving!

Mollie Loves: thinknow

Mollie Loves: thinknow
Remember how I'm a Gemini? Well with that said, I love conversing, networking and meeting people. Part of why I started my blog, was to share with you or anyone who was interested to read, things that I love. Whether it's a shampoo, lip gloss, or in this case jewelry.

World, I would like to introduce you to Think Now Design- an eco-chic way to express your fashion fabulous-ness through jewelry. Think Now was created back in February of 2009, what I love about their designs is that not only are they beautiful and practical for every day wear, but it's elegant, simple and classy. Three words that I think are very positive to be associated with, right? The other fantastic quality about Think Now is their commitment to being green and sustainable. The jewelry is made with all sustainable and green materials, that are so environmentally friendly, get ready for it, this is what impresses me the most, is that if you were to lose the jewelry say you dropped them in the ground on accident (which of course would be very sad and you wouldn't actually want to) but if you did, they're bio-degradable. Think Now products are made from 100% natural materials and water-based adhesives. All wood products are sourced from managed growth forests, and their products are sealed with beeswax and linseed oil. How fabulous is that? Wear their jewelry, look fashion forward and support the world. It's a win/win.
Rebecca Luong is the eco-chick and designer of Think Now, she is an accredited design professional committed to leadership in the green design community, and exploring the fusion of hospitality, fashion, and sustainable lifestyles. All of these designs are from right here in Seattle!

So, if you're looking to make a bold statement, tell the world you love it and support it, and show everyone how fashionable you really are, you'll consider checking out Think Now. At least one pair should live in the jewelry box of every fashionable lady. I'll tell you that I've worn my Honey Drop pink earrings and Tear Drop Bangles several times and have received many compliments on them. I know that you can find Think Now's designs at a couple different locations in the Seattle area, the Capitol Hill (one of my most favorite Seattle neighborhoods) boutique of Spun Sustainable Collective, and Winslow Salon in Kirkland for those of you on the Eastside of the city!

To learn more about Think Now and its collections, check them out online, or on their Facebook! Be sure to like Think Now on Facebook and enter their awesome giveaway on their website- it's a great way to kick off the holiday season! Tory Burch Partners with Dress for Success to Celebrate the Holidays

If you follow me on Twitter or read my blog you'll know that I have many passions and interests. A couple of which are Tory Burch who's clothes and shoes I die for, and supporting various charitable organizations.

"Tory Burch is an attainable, luxury, lifestyle brand defined by classic American sportswear with an eclectic sensibility, which embodies the personal style and spirit of its co-founder and creative director, Tory Burch."
Over the weekend Tory Burch celebrated a wonderful partnership with the fantastic organization Dress for Success- an organization she has supported practically since her inception as she is passionate about helping women in business. I was invited along with my lovely sister to attend this special evening. Women supported by Dress for Success were invited to light specially designed Hasbro Lite-Brite holiday windows at several Tory Burch boutiques across the country, one of which was right here in Washington, Tory's boutique at The Bravern in Bellevue. The holiday windows featured reindeer images made of Lite-Brite pegs framed in a mirror. Inspired by a photograph of a reindeer taken in Russia, Tory Burch collaborated with a New York-based artist named Timothy Paul Myers to transform the picture into a sophisticated, colorful design that had a Pop Art feel to it. There are 46 installations, which took about 4,900 hours and 2,025,000 pegs to create using seven Lite-Brite colors.

That evening, each participant from Dress for Success was invited to select work-appropriate Tory Burch items of their choice, up to $500. I had the pleasure of meeting Erica, a friendly and positive young woman who's goal is to open up a soul food restaurant right here in Seattle. I believe this to be an awesome idea, and look forward to enjoying some good soul food, because there aren't really any of those restaurants here in Seattle.
Erica selected some really wonderful pieces, I would have to say she has great taste! Best of luck Erica in your future endeavors, I can't wait to enjoy your delicious and authentic soul food right here in Seattle, all while looking fabulous in your Tory Burch attire. I think the two best pieces of advice I've heard from other women who've started their own businesses is to follow your dreams and never give up, because you can achieve anything you put your heart and mind into! DFS is an international not-for-profit organization that helps promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

I'm also excited to share with you, that I'm not the only person who's loving Tory Burch and her lavish designs, just recently her flannel Reva flats and Tory handbag were featured on Oprah's farewell season of her favorite things!

Friday night was truly a wonderful and inspiring night, it's so great to surround yourself with positive goal oriented people, people like Erica! Her positivity radiated throughout the store, it was clearly contagious because I feel like I can do anything I set my mind to as well. I couldn't have asked for a better evening to kick off the holiday season.

Girls Weekend part deux

This past weekend I had the privilege of getting to spend time with some of my best and most favorite gal pals! We had a girls night last month, and decided to rendezvous downtown in Seattle for girl's night part deux. I have to say I have incredible/awesome friends, every fashionable, lady, girl, should have gal pals, as girl time is crucial in maintaining sanity and having fun. I mean you can't gossip about boys, boyfriends, relationships, clothes, or celebrities with guys, come on now! I was the first to arrive at our hotel, so while I waited for everyone else to get there, I decided to walk around downtown some, I stopped at Starbucks (duh right?) picked up my venti vanilla latte and then made my way over to some amazing windows near the Fairmont, I think you know where I'm talking about right? I drooled over the gowns at Luly Yang, their windows right now are amazing!
As we all arrived, we collected ourselves, got ready and made our way down to where else? Contour of course, I had to introduce my friends to the most amazing mac & cheese/happy hour ever! Contour was so great to us, we were seated in a comfy booth and enjoyed wonderful conversation, food and wine! After dinner it was time to get dolled up and paint the town red. I cherish every moment I get to spend with my friends, each one of them is amazing, fabulous and inspiring.

Now about where we or I chose to have us stay. I was really torn about where to stay, because I wanted the night to be the best and most memorable ever. A couple years ago we all stayed at the Hotel Monaco downtown and our stay there was a dream. The Monaco went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, happy and had everything we needed. This time however, I chose to have us stay at the W downtown. I don't really even know why now, I guess I thought I heard from people that it was nice, unfortunately my experience was quite the opposite. My stay with them from the get go was less than ideal, I walked into the lobby with two big bags on my arm, my purse and my lap top bag in hand, in heels mind you, so I'm juggling a ton of bags, hoping that I wouldn't fall over. Post check in I was pointed in the direction of the elevators, and assumed that I would be helped to my room, boy was I wrong. No one helped me carry my bags- I was so sad. I won't get into the gory details, but I will say that I have no desire to ever return to that establishment ever again. In the W's defense they did send us up a nice little wine and cheese spread on Friday, and I did get a call from them on Monday. So I appreciated that effort.

In other happy news, it's the weekend! Friday! I hope everyone has a fabulous and fun weekend.

For the love of Marilyn

"This life is what you make it. No matter what, you're going to mess up sometimes, it's a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you're going to mess it up. Girls will be your friends - they'll act like it anyway. But just remember, some come, some go. The ones that stay with you through everything - they're your true best friends. Don't let go of them. Also remember, sisters make the best friends in the world. As for lovers, well, they'll come and go too. And babe, I hate to say it, most of them - actually pretty much all of them are going to break your heart, but you can't give up because if you give up, you'll never find your soul mate. You'll never find that half who makes you whole and that goes for everything. Just because you fail once, doesn't mean you're gonna fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself, because if you don't, then who will, sweetie? So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life's a beautiful thing and there's so much to smile about."
— Marilyn Monroe

Significant events happening in Seattle this weekend

Seattle is an always and ever exciting vibrant and thriving city. You can be sure that no matter the day, week, month or hour there is always something interesting and fun going on. This weekend is no exception to significant things happening in the Emerald City and it's surrounding areas.

Friday November 19, 2010
The Bravern is located in Bellevue, it's an uber chic and fabulous spot for great shopping. One of the stores you'll find tucked away in this shopper's paradise is one of my MOST favorite designers in the entire world, Tory Burch. This Friday 11/19  at 5pm Tory Burch is kicking off the holidays by partnering with Dress for Success. This partnership is in honor of Global Entrepreneurship Week. Women supported by Dress for Success will light the specially designed Hasbro Lite-Brite holiday windows at several Tory Burch boutiques across the country- and one of them is at The Bravern! Friday evening, each participant from Dress for Success will be invited to select work-appropriate Tory Burch items of their choice, up to $500. Tory Burch will also donate additional looks from the collection to Dress for Success Worldwide! How awesome is that? The holiday windows will feature reindeer images made of Lite-Brite pegs framed in mirror, inspired by a photograph of reindeer taken in Russia. Tory Burch collaborated with New York-based artist Timothy Paul Myers to transform the picture into a sophisticated, colorful design that has a Pop Art feel. There are 46 installations, which took 4,900 hours and 2,025,000 pegs to create using seven Lite-Brite colors. I am looking forward to attending this wonderful event and celebrating the holiday season with my favorite designer!

Sunday night I was given the opportunity to be #MollieontheRadio, for those of you unfamiliar with the number sign I just posted it's a Twitter thing called a hastag! I was invited to be a guest co-host on The FHR Radio Show on Hot Jamz Radio 94.5 or 88.9. It was truly an awesome experience! I made sure to come prepared with a venti mint tea from Starbucks of course with a little honey, water and a positive attitude! Pretty much what ended up happening was I danced and sang around the studio all afternoon, I had fun. I loved being being behind the mic, chatting and talking about topics I have blogged about. My co-host Mario was super awesome and very helpful in making my radio debut go smoothly. We covered topics from dating to fun events coming up in Seattle, we even got some calls! So it was really exciting to not only talk about what I was interested in, but to hear other people's feedback and thoughts! The show went so well, I'm thrilled to tell you that I have been asked to be a more regular contributor! I absolutely cannot wait to get back in the studio and talk more! I'm coming up with some more fun and interesting topics to bring to the table, and there are a lot of exciting things coming up on The FHR show, so you're going to want to make sure you tune in Sunday 3-7pm, so I hope you'll listen. I mean you get to listen to great music, join in some great conversation AND you can get FREE stuff!
In case you missed the show on Sunday we discussed some interesting topics like...
  • Why women feel the need to falsely advertise themselves
  • Why nice guys finish last
  • AND we talked about the infamous and soon to come date of December 11, which is one of the two highest dates in the entire calendar year that break ups happen! Seriously, a study was conducted and it's two weeks before Christmas, and right before spring break that the most break ups happen. So if you're in a relationship beware, break up season is upon us.

The Big Big Bang

My beautiful and ever so lovely sister introduced me to an AWESOME song by Rock Mafia, the song is called The Big Big Bang. I like it a lot, it's currently on repeat. And even more interesting is that Miss Miley Cyrus is in this video with the dude from Air Bud! I had the chance to meet Miley pre Hannah Montana, she was sweet! She's actually coming to Bellevue this weekend for any of you Miley fans out there. She is one of the many celebrities that Microsoft has connected with to help them launch their retail locations. I'm thinking Bellevue Square is going to be  a MADHOUSE on Thursday, as tickets will be given away to her concert for Saturday 11/20.
What do you think of the song?

Team up for Nonprofits

As I have written in other posts and in my bio, I think it is important to give back to the community in some way. Helping others is not only gratifying and helps you feel like a better person but it's the right thing to do. Last week I had the pleasure of connecting with Ryan Hodgson "in real life", he is the founder of a great organization called Team up for Nonprofits. We met at Starbucks, of course and got to chat about Team Up and all the neat things that social media is doing these days. It's always fun to meet with other great people from Twitter! Getting to visit with Ryan and hearing how passionate he is about the organization was very inspiring. Team Up is such a cool organization because it combines two awesome elements, music and charity, essentially you purchase tickets to hear great music and then that money is donated to the non-profits. It's a win/win! So, if you're interested in giving back and getting involved I would say Team Up is a great Seattle organization to look into.
"Team Up for Nonprofits was founded in 2009 by event producer Ryan Hodgson and a group of industry friends and colleagues, with the aim of supporting Seattle nonprofits with event production and fund raising. The team saw well-produced music events as a way for nonprofits to raise funds and generate awareness, that would be accessible to multiple generations—and promote meaningful giving. It seemed natural that two of Seattle’s strengths, music and philanthropy, should join forces to provide a solution.

Team Up for Nonprofits’ mission is to build capacity for nonprofit organizations by cultivating a new generation of engaged supporters through the power of music and social media."

You can connect with Team Up a few different ways

I know that I plan on getting involved so maybe you should too! They have some really exciting things coming in 2011 so stay tuned!

I think I died and went to Heaven

Would you take a look at these beauties! First of all, I love shoes. I am obsessed with shoes, shoes are amazing. Second, I love Tory Burch, her shoes are not only beautiful and comfortable, they are something that should be located in every fashionable lady's closet. I was making my rounds on online, looking at shoes and came across this magnificent creation of a shoe. It combines basically all the elements I love, PINK, sparkly, flats, and Tory.

I was once a Queen. Yes, that's right. I was a Queen, a Daffodil Queen, I had a cape, crown, white gloves, white dress, and a court of 19 other Princesses. Look it up. The Daffodil Festival.

Romantic places to kiss in Seattle

I like to collect books, and someday I would love to have an actual library in my home. Equipped with a ladder, a comfy chair, blankets and of course a coffee maker. My book collection is far from what I want it to be ten years from now, but hey you have to start somewhere right? One of the books I have in my possession at the moment is titled, "The Best Places to Kiss in the Northwest". Don't ask me where I got it because to be honest I can't remember. It's cool though because it lists out all the fabulous and romantic places to visit and stay for that special weekend away, from boutique hotels, to wineries to major metropolitan areas like my favorite city SEATTLE! I'm going to share with you some ideas from the book and some personal favorites of my own. So for those of you looking for a romantic weekend in the Emerald City, I hope this helps!

  • The Alexis Hotel- what I like about this hotel is that not only is it beautiful but they have an Author's Suite fully equipped with a library and fireplace! They have a spa, and offer daily wine tastings. Something else kind of cool if you're into scotch is that they have a varied scotch collection of over about 60 different kinds.
  • Inn at the Market- this is a great place to stay because you're in the heart of the city and right by Pike's Place Market. The Inn at the Market has a great Parlor Suite which is naturally a great choice of room for any romantic occasion. I also hear that their rooftop has quite the fabulous view of Elliott Bay and the Olympic Mountains, a perfect place to steal a kiss or four. I don't know how much more romantic you can get with a cinematic background like that!
  • The Edgewater- this is of course a great choice because hello, The Beatles stayed there! If you want to stay in the actual room they did and fish out of your window just like they did, request room 272. If you stay at The Edgewater you have to make sure to request a room with a water view, otherwise it isn't worth it. Some rooms have private balconies, again a great picturesque place to give your guy or gal a smooch.
  • Four Seasons- the Four Seasons Hotel is probably kind of an obvious choice, it's right on First, near Pike Place and is a fabulous five-star hotel. It is contemporary and modern in design, boasts floor to ceiling windows, two person bathtubs and get ready for it TV's embedded in the mirrors in the bathrooms.
  • Canlis- this should again be an obvious choice, Canlis is known not only for their delicious food, but for their stunning architecture and amazing 15,000 bottle cellar- Canlis has been around for over 50 years so you know they know how to enhance a perfect romantic evening. While there you need to make sure you order the Peter Canlis Prawns and their Wagyu Tenderloin. Canlis definitely comes with a hefty price tag especially if you're looking for their full on dinner experience, however it is well worth it.
  • The Georgian- inside the beautiful Fairmont Olympic Hotel is The Georgian. Probably one of the most beautiful dining rooms in Seattle, it's like eating out of a fairy tale. Inside the room are spectacular chandeliers, huge windows and beautiful decor. Definitely a place where a girl can put on her tiara and a boy can wear his bow tie tuxedo.
  • The Pink Door- this is a really fun and yummy choice in dining, if you like Italian-American food with some zest this is the place to go. If you have dinner there on a Saturday night they have exciting entertainment like tarot card readers, trapeze artists, and even burlesque shows!
  • Via Tribunali- if you like pizza this is the place to go! With serval locations in Seattle, one of my personal favorites being Queen Anne where it's bright and cozy. They have hand tossed pizzas, menus in Italian and many of their ingredients are from Italy! So if you're looking to enhance amore go here!
Places to Kiss
  • Atop the Space Needle
  • The Olympic Sculture Park
  • Golden Gardens Park
  • Alki Beach
  • Gasworks Park
  • Seacrest Park
  • Kiss in the rain, the rain is what Seattle is known for, this one can be done almost anywhere
  • Catch a movie at Pacific Place
  • Attend an Opera or Ballet at McCaw Hall
  • Catch a concert at The Key Arena
  • Check out The Seattle Symphony at Benaroya Hall
  • Enjoy a musical at The 5th Avenue Theatre
Don't Forget
It wouldn't be a romantic weekend without flowers, so if you're a guy make sure you go down to Pike Place and pick up the biggest and most bright bouquet of flowers you can find! Champagne always helps, chocolate, good music or anything else that is special to you and your significant other. It's not necessarily about the decadence and going over the top, it's really about the thought and care that you put into your evening or special weekend that will make it memorable.
